Tube at bottom of engine

Hi all,

Was looking at my dogbone mount (how can you tell excessive play when in place btw?) and there is a tube that runs under the cover and attaches to the bottom of the block (I think). The other end runs over the exhaust and disappears up through the heat shield.

Does anyone know what this is? It was only loosely connected to the block...

Correctomundo!

I just videoed myself moving between the gears - no bl00dy wonder the gears are loose! It is a horrendous design!
