tuner found in east lothian scotland(edinburgh)

Hi all im thinking of getting my 172 engine forged/turbo'd the company name is Hiflowheads in east lothian he has done motorsport apps from here since 1990 but opened up to public tuning in 1996 just want to know if anyone has used or heard of the company before or if anyone has any feedback

Not heard of them either but their page on Facebook has some great looking builds. Just emailed them to see if they want my old Williams head I have in my garage

yeah i know was at there workshop yesterday you should see some of the builds he has going on at the moment. I was very inprest. am dropping my doner engine of there tonight. can't wait till the build begins.

Andy the tuner let us see the 205 yesterday 2L engine just fits in there nicely with no room to spare with the larger frotill body the noise the thing makes is unreal. streetsleeper all the way

Been advertising for years in mags like ppc and possibly pgti back in the day, always thought they were very cit/pug biased but an engines an engine, don't see why the couldn't do renaults.

This could be interesting to see if anyone has any experience of them. If anyone out East Lothian/Glasgow/Edinburgh type way is looking for a new exhaust i would highly recommend Simons Custom Exhausts. He did the exhaust on my last car and was a top guy! Just putting that out there! haha

My mate bought a car from him years ago (205 GTI / MI16) and it was a pile of w**K and he had nothing but trouble with it, took it back to him in his barn as thats where he works from and tried to get his cash back after the owner of hiflowheads claiming it had cams and was running 200bhp along with it being a fully re-built engine even tho it was pissing oil and coolant along with ever other running problem that you can think of. The owner of the car and owner had a bit of a shouting match and then the owner of highflow heads assaulted him and burst his noise, lip and eye. My mate took it to the police and also trading standards.

I dont know what the outcome was in the end but this went on for a while and bearing in mind it was over 10 years ago

That engine looks a riot!!!


Bought like that from Highflow heads.

That week he bought it it went up to crail and was getting beat off everything and then im sure it was rolling roaded and it made some poor bhp figures

Did your mate have eye's or where they painted on when he bought it lol. Trading standards couldn't have hit him that hard as he is still in the same "barn" and is still trading as hiflow heads. I know exactly what's going into my car as am supplying the bits the boy has been a wellth of knowlegde to me, telling me what will be done and what will be needed i've also seen varouis engine's and varouis stage's of build. so not really worried about hear,say just really asking for feedback like to thank all the guys for there comments all will be taken on board i will post a build thread as engine progresses.
 
I know one person that has had a bad experience with them. He had to pay £1 in advance, HFH were meant to be building a race engine but after months of chasing and no answers, he eventually got a half built engine. I know on the Rallye Register there was a few other people who had had problems, personally I'd stay clear!

Im going back atleast 10 years ago this happened and when you are promised x,y,z from a so called trusted garage and someone who is into buliding there race engines and modding performance cars you would expect the truth.
The car was bought at night from the barn and as i said the owner even assaulted him when he tried to take it back and ask for some answers. Any owner of a company that can do this in my eyes aint someone i would want to personaly deal with or trust to do work on my car. Things might have changed in the last 10 years but from what i seen and heard i would rather push my car to BTM, Birchwood, RS Tuning or off a cliff
