Hi there im looking to make my 172 abit quicker and would like to know wat sort of things i could do or get to just make the car a bit quicker
car is running 167 bhp, only modification is a exhaust apart from that its standard any help would be appreciated

pretty much like trying to get blood from a stone. unless you go itb,turbo,supercharger etc

not that you will really notice, rs tuner remap, ktec new induction kit, decat etc i think i would rather put the money into brakes and suspension.

You can make around 10bhp from de-cat, Itg maxogen and an RS Tuning remap

Watched fifth gear the other day and they had a Clio 200 with VBH driving, timed her laps etc with chip etc, and then without, as I remember she got a better time by having some more driving tuition... (im not saying you cant drive!!! i dont know you)

think he means the car just been quicker in general not quicker round a track although i could be wrong

Oh, I don't think for one minute you are wrong, the point im making (badly) is that if you are not exploiting your car with its current power 100% then, much as you would like, do you need more power ?

And I'm not having a go, please don't think that I just know how difficult these cars are to get good results from, I just wonder if there's something more you can gain without spending on the car that's all ;-)

The basic answer is no. As above big money for noticeable gains so not really worth cheap mods. Haven't seen it but pretty sure that Fifth Gear was a TV Setup then as VBH used to be an instructor so doesn't really add up.

Lose all unnecessary weight you can. Panel filter, bigger/better breaks and a remap and it may see you some performance.

Alternatively look for cheap second hand itbs for sale
