indeed, tuning the F4R is largely a pointless exercise unless it's your bag.

if you want to go quicker for less, strip it out, buy better brakes and suspension setups.

cheapest and most worth while mods and brakes and suspension. U'll fork out ALOT of money to get more power and even then it wont be much

Tuning the 182 is basically down to 2 things in my eyes.

1) your gonna keep the car for years, track it, make it a labour of love.

2) do a few small bits, enjoy it, then move on in a year or two.

if your expecting to spend £1500 and end up with a ferrari slayer then you will be disappointed. Yes the car will have a bit more poke, and be more responsive, but it wont set the world on fire.

If you want to do things properly, keep the car long term, use it for track days etc, then you really have to put in 3-4k for any major jump in power. Then develop it from there.

I personally have a passion for my 172, am gonna keep it till it dies. This is why i have put a considerable amount of money into it recently. I personally have done the 'buy a faster car' thing, and whilst my Impreza Spec-C was faster, it didnt push all the right buttons for me. Hence why i am back in a clio.

So after all that waffling, if you want a bit of fun, do the suspension, brakes, add an exhaust. enjoy it for waht it is, and then put it back to standard come sale time.

otherwise look at whats out there, GDI, Ktec etc, get your wallet out and become engrossed!! :D

Basic breathing mods will help responsivenes i.e. ss system with decat and itg maxogen air filter. Other than that its cams, remaps (add very little more used to get the car running right with the mods). Throttle bodies and turbo's are much more expensive options but with greater gains.

Then theres improved suspension, brake and weight reduction.

But most just stick with the basic breathing mods and coilovers.

Have to agree, from what ive heard Edde in his 65hp dci is all over the RS's like a rash.

buy a jap car if you want big power, have fun in the 182 while you can, its not a slow car at all. f4r just seems to be very expensive to tune.
ek9 civic type r is the way forward for a hot hatch imo. 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and a v tec howl to wake the neighbours with a spoon exhaust system, dc sport manifold, maxogen and you'll be knocking on over 200bhp.
handle amazing standard and will piss on a 182's bonfire. i have to say, my respect for rs' is huge but once seeing an ek9 go, made me very jealous.

  Clio 182 & Saxo VTR
Any changes to mine will be easily reversable, exhaust, suspension etc. I cant take selling another car modified and having every chav and his mates, sorrys "m8s" around my house again.

Last time some pikey was interested in my saxo, his dad complained there was knocking from my suspension, when i explained it wasnt knocking and the cause of the problem was him bottoming out my coilovers on potholes by driving at 60mph through them he said "or yeah, fink it iz". Then i instructed him to go home, he managed to reverse the car too quickly and reverse my bumper into my steps. :D

Then he went home, his son sent a message offering £500 off a car what was only up for £2700. :D

I sold it 2 days later to someone else for £2500. :)

The point of that is what fmp said, if your not keeping it long, dont do alot to it, a standard car is much easier to sell and in most cases will get you alot more money in return.

How come you set the coilover up like that anyway?
