If you converted your existing block you would need the following as a bare minimum:

Turbo (duh!) approx £1700.00
Low compression pistons approx £500.00 for set
Custom fabricated exhaust manifold approx £800.00
Possibily a new fuel system depending on how much power you decide on inc injectors, pump etc.
Mappable ECU
Someone to put it all together and do all the mapping work.
Its at least a £4,000 commitment!

No you wouldt. Well yes you would if you want to run highish power.

You can do it at home easily enough. Main probs the fueling. But scrapyards are filled with turbos (even a knackered turbo can be re-coned for 300 or so) and injectors and ecus etc etc.

You can run stock CR as its not very high as standard.

What is the CR on a standard RT? I was under the impression that the Compression Ration was normally increased on cars that were being converted to use a turbo??

Rick

stock CR on the RT is 9.5:1, 8.5:1 on the GTTs if I remember correctly and 10.0:1 on the valvers.

You decrease the compression ratio on turbos, up it on NA to get more power, thats the theory, its more techy than that.

Cheers Chris_H, in hindsight Im not even sure why I suggested raising the CR, Must have been getting my increases and decreases mixed up!!
