Err.. You just cant pull the fuse... The EBD will stop working and youll have 50/50 braking...

It will affect braking! Weve tried it, and it the "brake spliter" (sorry, dont know the technical english name...) will be 50/50 as the EBD wont be functioning anymore. But you can try and check this out for yourself...
My 2002 Mk2 has EBD, and both of the 172s weve tried turning off the ABS got EBD too.
I wish I had all the fancy leccy stuff, I somehow put the Cup sideways a few days ago, and put a monster flatspot on my nearside front. Now the tyre hammers down the tarmac. I know youre meant to take your take the pressure off the brakes when they lock up, but I was only six inches off the backbumper of the guy in front who was also locked up and sliding in front of me... These backroads can be treacherous!
Any other Cup owners out there getting used to seeing tyre smoke in the rearview mirrors?

A guy i know contacted sodemo to know how to get the ABS off but leave the EBD on, he told me that sodemo told him that you need to unplug the rear ABS wires that are connected by the wheels. Dont know if this makes any sense or if its in anyway accurate but you can give it a shot at your on risk.

Im thinking about trying that unplugging mission. I want the ABS off, because in New Zealand (where I am) there is a track called Manfield.
Every time that we cane it on Manfeild, we lift wheels off the ground (yee haa) this makes the ABS switch on, and the pedal pulse. Its annoying at 180km/h.
Tell us something when you try it. We have Estoril here at Portugal. And we lift the wheels of the ground, but were not braking, were cornering.

User "Falk" has bypassed the fuse with a small on-off switch. Im thinkin of doing it to, realeasy! Turn it on and off...

I have switched off the ABS at slalom-events. Makes it a lot easier to brake hard when cornering at low speeds. For circuit driving I will leave the ABS on as Im not really happy with the brake balance. Rear sometimes locks up...
If there is an EBD system, how does it work? Anyone?
I read that disconnecting the rear wheelsped sensors will maintain the EBD function. Can anyone confirm...?
What about the Cup? Does it have EBD without ABS? Are the brakes identical? Master cylinder and calipers?

I said that exactly in a few replys back. Cant confirm it, but the information came from SODEMO. Yeap, there is an EBD on both Clio 172. The CUP AFAIK doesnt have EBD, and i think in order to have EBD you have to have ABS.
