turning over wont start

172 02 plate turning over about 4 turns each time then cuts out wont start, tried the 2 keys still the same, seems to be either fuel or immobiliser any ideas cheers Lee

Does it actually fire up and then cut out? or not firing at all?

If you turn the key and it ticks over 4 times and you hold it there (turned clockwise) do the interior lights dim/turn off completely?

Will have a fair bit of money on it being the immobiliser.

I find that if you put the key in the ignition, turn it to the stage just before ignition, then hold the interior locking button (just above radio) for over 5 seconds until you hear some beeps.


Always seems to work.

Try it a few times pressing the key as well.

thanks for advice guys eventually had to get AA out, he tried it once said the immobiliser was on wet key with his fingers and then tapped the metal part of the key on the ground put it in the engine and hey presto it started. He says that the key builds up static in it and this gets rid of it. Both keys weren't working yet when he did that with one key the other one then worked aswell. All very strange only had the car about 3 weeks and thats the second time the AA have been out to it with the same problem.:S
