Jinx...Alot of work ahead of you...The work required will ammount to some serious penny's.

Love Trev's though! :)

Just a little start up video, found that checking the oil level is correct is a pain in the arse, as the car has a dry sump it drains away as soon as the engine is off and engine needs to be up to temp when checking.

Another little video, getting the engine warmed to check the oil, only worth watching first minute, after that its just idling, uploaded the long video rather than the edited shortened version (Below)

I love it, I'd have the interior done though.

Try to keep a detailed log of progress, I'd really love to read it to see what tidying one up is really like time and cost wise :)

little update on the car, the lcd panel on the dash board was only visible to the passenger, so sent off for a new one, received a few days later, installed the part and still the same problem. Ended up having to send the entire dash unit away, as one of the circuit boards within needed replacing as well, as i couldn't change the contrast / brightness of the screen, has taken 3 weeks for the part to be installed, but should arrive back to me ready for use on wednesday, so this weekend I can get insurance and give the car a little drive around, to check the temperatures and pressures, and see if anything else needs looking at before the engine rebuild at the end of the month, cost of the dash panel repair was £250 so this project could turn out more expensive than planned, plan is to get the car, to a showroom condition. Whilst the engine is being rebuilt the car is having uprated cams put in, I am hoping to see 380bhp after these.

Another little update, the LCD screen which shows all the temperatures and pressures is now fixed and refitted. Took over a month to source a new circuit board, but eventually got hold of one at a cost of £400 fully installed. Been for a little drive everything seems fine on the car, especially the noise. A few things I need to get hold of are a new cap for the radiator, new windscreen wipers, the front wheels need to be swapped with the backs. And it's going in for a full engine rebuild including more aggressive cams early in January. Hoping it will come back with around 380bhp

Swap the Fronts to the rears? They are totally different wheels!

Also what cams is Dom fitting? It must have been cheap if you can justify a full engine build from RG. I'd just buy a warranty and then slacken the tensioner......

dont take it to racing green, take it to dom at tvr power for a 4.3 or a 4.5 converisionmuch better than rg opions thats for sure

specially if your spending that much, also get 100000 mile warranty / five year

I need to check on wheel size back and front but the front have a larger profile tyre than the back and it should be the other way round, currently fronts are 40 and the backs are 35. Had a little phone round today and spoke to The Garage a Tvr specialist where my dad used to take his chimaera, and he quoted a much cheaper price for the rebuild, he spoke about a 4 litre conversion like the sagaris, didnt realise you could go further than that. My dad recommends this guy as well cause due to his all round knowledge of he cars. I need to source the top half of the airbox as its cracked but so far I can only find complete units at £500 a pop.

Fronts wheels are totally different to rear wheels, in design and offset. Do not put the fronts on the rear.

The fronts should be 40 profile the rears should be 45. I think, I can't remember what mine had.

Although if someone has put wider tyres on the rear they may have got lower profile ones to keep the rolling radius the same.

As for conversions, my friends T350 has the 4.5 conversion from racing green.

Why are you having a rebuild? Is there a problem?

When i Bought the car the previous owner said it is in need of a new head gasket, from what i have looked at starting the car with the radiator cap off you get no blowback of water from the engine. But being a high performance car its worth having it done, also with these engines the finger followers, cams and valve seats are made of a soft low quality metal, which is very prone to wear and a rebuild would use newer better quality components, car has done around 40k miles, and its just really to be safe.

awesome project, would love one of these but without power ranger style interior.

All that is going to be part of the project, carpets are being made for it in the next few weeks a nice dark blue, dashboard is going to be a similar colour a very dark blue, and the blue/purple door cards as well, seats are staying for now as they wear refurbed by the previous owner so they look brand new.

Won't it idle cold?

not when its first started, after about a minute its fine, but there isn't a lot of pressure in the exhaust which doesn't help.

Just wind the idle screw out.

Mine was like that, it'd idle at 500rpm and cut out when cold.

After a bit of playing it'd idle at 900 cold and 1000 hot.

it idles at around 800/850 but sometimes drops to around 450/500 and sounds like its going to die, i'll have a play with the idle tomorrow. I'm not in a particular hurry as my insurance for it doesn't start till for another 3 weeks, and my current policy won't cover me 3rd party.

Forgot to say those pics were via Gran Turismo, little update, insurance is now sorted, cheaper than I expected £650 fully comp for a 22yr old. car is going in for it's mot today, it's not going to pass cause it has no cat on it, just want a list of things that need doing. Had a check myself and the passenger side track rod end seems worn but apart from that and the decat should all be good. also ordering my go pro in the next few weeks so can get some decent videos up soon.

Great project, love TVR's.

Had a Chimeara 4.3 HC a few years ago and the experience never leaves you. Would love another Trevor one day!

Thanks will do my best to keep the updates coming in. My dad used to have a Chimaera 500 when I was first starting to drive and have wanted a Tvr ever since.
