Twanging!

  Focus
Evening!

Had this problem since I've had the car. Basically sometimes when I pull away normally, I get a twanging noise coming from the engine bay. I had a CV boot done last week, and when it was done asked if they could investigate the engine and gearbox mounts (likely culprits) but they were all fine according to the guy.

Any ideas? To me it sounded 100% an engine mount, but now he's said they're fine I don't know what it could possibily be, can only guess he either didn't check them, or didn't check them properly!

Thanks in advance.

try the exhaust mounts and the flexi joint bolts and springs that attach the mid-pipe to manifod, hard to say without hearing the noise mate!

Thanks for the response dude.

The twanging sounds exactly like an engine mount would do, had a techie I know check them (with me there) and they all looked fine. The only one he didn't check was the one near the top of the gearbox? Is that a common one?

Just for anyone experiencing similar problem turned out to be the top gearbox mount (under the battery) the bolts had come finger loose, so it was twanging everytime the engine flexed, techie I know took the whole mount out along with bracket, and refitted. All sorted!
