Tyre Size Question......

I currently have Turini's with 195x45xR16 Tyres on there.

Will 205x45xR16 fit ok?

If so, what are the pros/cons?

They wont fit bcos the tyre will be wider than ur wheel. 195 means the width of the tyre which is based on ur wheel so 205 wont go on at all bcos its 10 millimetres larger. if u want wider tyres ull need wider wheels.

Lol, ignore that post ^

Yeah they'll fit fine mate. Will have slightly more grip, at the cost of more tramlining and a harder steering feel. I find the car feels more agile on 195's.

Oh, and may scrub if you plan on lowering it much.

Ive got 205/40/16 on some 172 wheels and with only a 1.4 16v the tramlining is ridiculous! Ordered some 195/45s now :)

Thanks Peperami!

Well, I have it lowered on Sportlines......

What is 'tramlining'?

If its bad will seem like you're driving a tank. Car will follow lines and ruts in the road, as if it were on tram lines... that make sense?

Tbh the difference between the two isnt gonna be that major, depends how much you notice these things.

sportlines only lower it by about 30mm iirc so you'll have no issues with rubbing. PB Cup runs these size tyre on his cammed 172 Cup with no probs

Bah, I needed new tyres anyway - 5mm tread on the middle, bald on the outside.

Thats my justification!

sorry to hijack alittle but what tyre pressure is best for 195/45/16s? I know there isn't a certain measure as one car could be heavier than another etc

i usually put 30 all round, but i never really experimented with tyre pressures so cheers for the heads up on that one

Even all round will make the back a little twitchy... try 2 more in front than rear. If you strip rear seats out, try 4 more in front than rear.
