U thought Renault were BAD! (long)

Sorry I just started ranting and could not stop

My window got broken on Saturday called RAC Windscreen they tell "no available til Wednesday" Yeah good one ill just leave my car on the drive with no bloody window in it. After a little heated discussion he agrees to put Perspex in it, ok I can put up with this til Wednesday.

Wednesday comes I call them at 9.15 to see what time they are coming only to hear "Sorry mate we gave your glass to someone else, might be able to get someone out tomorrow" WTF!!! I explained to him that I had a sheet of plastic as a window it was un attractive and not very secure, to which the cheeky git replied "there are several other windows they can break through" At this point I was pretty pi**ed in a nut shell told them they better get to my car and fix the window, "ill call you in half an hour" he says........

Gets to 10.50 so I call my insurance company to make a complain about these monkeys, they were very helpful telling me to get it done somewhere else and they will pick up the bill, trouble is I had already paid the excess when they fitted the Perspex, thinking I was being clever as it was less paper work when they came to my work to fit the glass.

Anyhow I though sod it ill ring national windscreen and argue the toss over £50 at a later date. Just as I was about to do that my phone rings "hello, its Ian from RAC Windscreen we have the glass be there at 12 ish" thats a turn up for the books (a chance to redeem themselves) bloke who comes out sound guy fixes the glass and call me up "its all done, we have a small problem the pin that hold the glass in place is missing, whoever fitted the Perspex must have lost it, but ill get you one and come back either today or tomorrow" (do I have a choice) Anyway get in the car o come home from work, thinking the car looks different, get out and look side on it the wrong bloody colour call them up and he starts telling me "its not the wrong colour" im the one looking at the car while ur 100 miles away how the hell do you know". he tells me "all the glass is the same", obviously not as mine is a different colour!!!:mad:

So does anyone know if the glass in a year 200 Clio is the same throughout the range, or is it different on the 172?

So its purple/petrol effect colour with a small clear square at the bottom in the centre

what a bunch of c***s - how hard can it be to fit a window? a company that do this kinda thing day in day out and still f**k up. Its poor that most organisations these days have no customer service skills at all !! I work in company that is very customer focused, if i spoke to someone like that id loose my job. Take your business else were mate, and let the insurance company deal with the rest.

LMAO, a good rant! Hope you get it sorted.

while on the subject of windscreens, I had two tiny stone chips on the windscreen at the weekend when going to Goodwood. They both had a "split" about 5mm either side of the chip. the next morning, one of them had grown to an 10 inch crack running diagonally across the windscreen!!

I have autoglass coming to fix this today, and I have told them repeatedly its a cup not a 172, because the windscreen on the cup is not heat reflective, lighter etc.

I wonder if the lighter windscreen on the cup is also less solid than a standard one, or is it just my bad luck?

dunno - im lightening the car, so a lighter windscreen is good, but if its also more fragile, no point in paying £50 excess every time it gets chipped and proceeds to crack ..

Anyway its all in the hands of the autoglass muppet whos going to fit a new windscreen today. As long as he does a good job Im not too concerned.

How would I recognise that he has fitted a "cup" windscreen vs. a "normal" heat reflective windscreen. Do they look different??

Isnt it just the side glass thats thinner? its not heat reflective cos its cheaper so if you can get one I would, it cant add to much weight!

This is getting silly now.Why bother bout gettin a lighter screen,do you realise u will be saving about 2lbs in weight.Once you and ure mates have had a maccy ds and a pint youll have gained the weight back.I think the the petrol/heat reflective screen will look great against the blue bodywork anyway.I wouldnt worry too much

Im asking for my track prepared Golf Gti not my valver!

Philip,

If you are unsure get the part number from Reno like I did. There is a big difference, visually between a 172 and Cup windscreen. Just make sure you get the one with the viewing area at the top middle of screen.

Strange about the crack because mine did exactly the same. Cracked really easily and quickly compared to previous cars Ive owned and cracked.

Ben, it must be the thinner cup windscreen??

will let you know all what windscreen I get later today (if indeed autoglass-man shows up with all the required parts...)

Aaron Lol, no mates are allowed in the car when Im on track, and I go on a 2-day diet before Im on track too ;)

ha ha ha had the glass people out again today its strange but the glass looks the same colour now i kicked up such a fuss last night must have been the light or something!!!

I roared at the poor bloke it turns out they are the same, how do i feel?? Hey i got my car sorted so it was worth kicking up a fuss!! I think bloke that come out though i was crazy!!!
