UCH most likely

Encountered some electrical problems a few months ago...this afternoon I will be in @ the Renault dealer.

Current problems:

*Started out with my rear demister not working (incl mirrors - heater only). (relay already been changed one time, but was broken again after 2 days)
*This week my window washer pump stopped working. (however my headlight washer pump is still working)
*Some hard to explain problems with my Airco...driving in town the airco works propperly..driving on the highway the airco stops working. Read some different possible problems (airco pump electronics / baffle in the air ducts)..

Anyway what's your best guess. I think the UCH might be broken, but do not know if it related to the airco problems I am having at the moment. Was quoted the best part of 400 euro's for changing the UCH

i think you might just been unlucky and its not actually UCH

when you say the aircon stops working do you mean just the aircon or the fan? if its the fan thats not working it could be the (forgot the name of the part!!) under the scuttle pannel, comon fault.

washer could just be a faulty pump, do the headlight washers have their own pump? i always thought they ran off the same pump but maby not!

Well just got back from the dealer.

They couldn't say if the UCH was faulty...however they diagnosed the washer pump is dead and my battery needed replacement. (was replaced directly)

Anyway booked for 1-december for further diagnose (costing 2 hours and if it's broken they replace it immediatly +euro 216ex 19%vat)

The airco...stops working but the fan stays on...rethostat or something. (already replaced mine ) If it's damp the front window will get misted even with the airco on, on the highway. Also it stops blowing cold air in the summer at the highway.

(airco isn't diagnosed at this moment)

Read some where if the electrics on the airco-pump are faulty..the pump will switch off at +3000rpm. Does anybody have any experience with this???

On my rear demister. I already changed the relay (which was dead) and the day after it stopped working again. Could this be battery related? Else I'll give changing the relay again a try. (could have been a faulty diagnose from the NON-renault garage which maintain my car)

@Martin 89: Yes the headlight washers have their own pump.

Think you mean the Heater fan resistor??

I am questioning myself what the possibility is that the relay of the rear-demister got broken due to a bad battery? I got the feeling I might be having a renault mechanic checking my UCH without it being broken...costing me money without the actual problem being solved.

Any advise?

Well the car is at the renault garage again...just got a confirmation about the UCH being broke. Also the connector which supplies the rear-demister and side mirrors with power is broken (molten)... looking at 625 euro (500+ pounds) to get it fixed.

Includes a new battery, new washer pump and shifter cover.

Still a lot of money but glad to get it fixed now.
