Ultra dumb Microsoft Excel Question

I cant work how how to insert formulas anymore to work out sums anymore (last time i used this program was 5 years ago) anyone here can give me an answer before I hide in a very large hole of embrassement?? Its excel 2000 btw just incase its changed from 95 or 98

there wasnt an office 95 or 98 well 98 was on mac

it was 4.3 then 97 2000 xp 2003

doesnt help but hell never mind
