Ultra Lazy Cleaning

Whilst I'm happy to give the car a proper going over in better weather I'm really not interested in spending an hour in the cold at this time of year only to have it get caked in road salt within 24hrs.

With that in mind, I was wondering if I could get away with a lazy clean simply by snow-foaming it and then jet washing it off again. As it would only take about 5-10 minutes I'd actually be likely to do it but is it going to get the car clean enough to be worth it?

It'll make some difference, how much difference it makes will depend on what protection you have on it already.

I've only been snowfoaming and washing currently (washing is good as you can get hot water).

I find snow foaming and then jet washing makes it a little cleaner, but it always looks odd for a bit. Certain parts cleaner than others etc.

Not washed my car in a couple of months now, cannot be bothered in this weather! There is still Swissvax under there somewhere so hopefully will be all good when I do.,

There's no real protection on there at the minute save the remnants of the first coat of wax I put on back in October.

Sounds like it might well be worth it, particularly as the alternative is me simply not washing it at the minute. With a newborn baby arriving in the next few days, an hour spent on the drive with a noodle-mit in hand is an hour I can't really justify to the wife!

Presumably it'll help to help too much crud building up on the wheels too?

Well, if you only waxed it in October, I'd very much expect it to be no longer effective (with all the salt on the roads), best bet now imo would be to leave it - any dirt collected will just go over existing dirt, so you have a dirt protection layer :tongueout:). I'd wait personally and do a proper job in the next few months.

That's what I'd do anyway, I'm certainly no expert!

...it's heart-breakingly filthy at the minute though. As :D

it's my first ever new car I feel pretty bad about letting it get like this but it literally takes one trip to work at the minute to put all of the dirt back on.

I;m in the same boat. Mines disgusting, but my first brand new car too, so want to look after it. We washed my girlfriends 1 Series last weekend, it's currently in the same state as mine is and I've not washed mine for donks!

I have been thinking about washing mine for the past month, and thats about as far as it got haha. I might give it a snow foam rinse off on Saturday.

Find a local petrol station with a DIY pressure washer. Take a pre wash product, wheel cleaner and QD spray with you.

Apply the pre wash to all panels, followed by the wheel cleaner leaving them to dwell a few minutes. The pressure washers are typically more powerful than your own at home so should hopefully remove more grime than doing it yourself at home, especially if your wax is still there.

once fully rinsed mist over with a QD then rinse again and take it for a run down the bypass.
