Uneven top mounts

  Now Sold :-(
Were your wheels pointing straight ahead when you took the picture? If the wheels are turned then they will be different.

Yeah, looks like there is more thread on the left. Either its not screwed on properly or something is mega wrong with that damper

Wheels were straight, I'll get the garage to look at it then :/
Better not be expensive, just bought a set of new tyres!

Looks like the tatty one is screwed on upside down or someones been hitting it with a hammer. Just buy a new one unscrew the nut pull off the the old top hat and fit the new one, easy. I assume the car rides ok otherwise.

Car rides perfectly, MOT time soon so I'll tell them to replace it.

As a side note, what are the benefits of solid top mounts? Might get them :p

The part you have shown is not the top mount, it's just to stop the whole strut falling out of the turret when the car is lifted. The top mount is the large rubber moulding between the shock absorber and the turret. Solid mounts are usually bolted to the turret to improve location of the strut. Some say it's better and some say not, much debate on this forum on this subject. If you are just a road driver and not going on track then I would say the OE mounts are good enough, at least that what I have and I do trackdays as well. Have a read on this subject in previous threads.
