Unfriendly Clio Drivers!!

In the year and a bit since Ive had my 172 Ive only had one aknowledgment from another Clio driver, in fact it was a Clio Cup driver.

But what is it with all the Renaultsport drivers who just ignore other Renaultsport drivers!?!?! You give them a nod or a friendly flash and they look at you like youve just waved your nob at them.

Seems there rare two types of drivers, the ones who bought a 172/182 because they like the cars and there are those who bought it coz it fulfills a requirement.

pmsl, if I acknowledged every Clio I saw on the road Id be constantly flashing or waving.

You dont seriously expect everyone to wave just cos youve got the same model of car as them do you?

you cant really tell the cliosport owners now because there are so many 172s and 182s that only small percentage of those owners are actually cliosporters.

Its not an original Beetle, Camper or mini. Would you laugh if fiesta owners started flashing and waving at each other?

I laughed when the mini in front of me flashed another mini, he got a wave back though. Theres shed loads more minis than RS cars out there.

in my 205gti on the rare occassion i saw another one I always got a wave, sometimes i wave to other RS owners but usually dont get acknowledgement

I get a look more response from the older models of Clios - the valvers, Willys, etc.

Having said that, a 182 (without Cuppy bits) went straight past me this morning and I ignored him. My mistake - I didnt think it was a 182 initially, until it was too late...

Ermmm....actually l have to say that last saturday l saw a silver 172 Sport in Kirkhams garage driven by a women and l never let on...even though l was stood next to her at the till .Stll.....lll start today and see how many l get.

Shouldnt be too many as lve never been spotted.....

in northern ireland the clio was the best selling car last year so id be for ever flashing on the road!

also i wouldnt flash anyone unless i knew them or there was a cop up the road and id be warning them

personally i hate getting flashed cos it scares the crap outa me

I think it is ok to join with your fellow renaultsporters but whenever I get flashed I always assume that something must be hanging off the back of the car rather than oh its one of those nice RS PPL, everybody wave...

I wouldnt dream of waving / flashing all clios, theres far too many as has been said.

But when someones in the same car as you and its a specialist car like the RSs then why not.

why should owners of rs cars wave at each other ??? most dont know about this site there isnt a culture of owner friendlyness with clios like minis and campers etc etc

I MEANT SPORT DRIVERS!! There are a million standard Clios out there why would I expect a flash of them.

I mention it as I woud assume a majority of RS owners would be petrol heads pleased to see another one!!!

you can hardly tell the difference between a normal clio and a sport till your on top of it. By then its gone past.

The mk1 mx5 people nearly always pop their lights to each other

i tried to talk to a bloke in a blue mk2 172 at lunch he didnt see why i was trying to say hello just because i had the same type of car

I tend to look for a sticker but the other day me and a guy nodded when we passed. He had a black 182 that looked lowered and was on some wicked wheels etc.

I think if the car has obviously been taken care of there a few mods obvious then you know the chap / ette is an enthusiast and not just an owner your okay. Otherwise nodding and waving at another Clio is likely to get you funny looks.

A bit daft acknowledging every RS Clio, what about the non-RS ones...? Id be waving every 2 seconds, theres about 10-15 Clios on my street of 30 houses.
