Uniroyal rainsport 2

  2 girls, 172 cup
I've recently replaced my two front tyres with these uniroyals from one tr-1 and one falken something-or-other.

I immediately felt no gain/loss in grip in the dry. But after reading a thread on here about tyre pressures I upped them to 36 psi which give a slight loss in overall grip but and sharper turn in.

As is usually the case with me, after buying specialist rain tyres it became the driest march/April for 50years. So all was pretty much forgotten about. Untill past night.....

Rain had dampened the road evenly but with no standing water, and had enough vigour to need me to almost have the wipers on constant (but not the crazy monsoon setting) approaching a pretty substantial round about from a dc, drops to third (pretty well sighted) and proceeded around at say 25 ish. Normally I try to have a little play on this roundabout in the wet with little success, usually the front gives up long before i can even think about lifting off. This is no longer true, with tyres digging in (and minimal revs) I lift off and the back swings round like I've yanked the handbrake.

Luckily, with me not doing Mach 2 and having lots of room (which wasn't needed) all was brought back with quick stamp on the right hand pedal.

These are an excellent all year round (haven't experienced snow) tyre. Good grip in the dry and fantasic in the wet. They don't cost a great deal more the tr-1 in the same size either (well, from camskill anyway). Only problem is that I may have to get another to for the back.

Please leave "damn street racers" "he wasn't trying" and "cool story bro" comments below.

Damn street racers!

Srsly I also have these and think they're are very good. Yet to try them much in the rain but great in the dry!

Put a pair of these on the front of my 225 before I sold it, really rated them for the money and I've tried quite an assortment of tyres now.

Re. snow capabilities, theyre certainly better than sub 1.6mm GSD3's that I replaced!

A friend of mine has them on his fiesta. He rates them too, didn't loose any grip on a track day either

This is good news! I have been trying to decide what tyres to go for for about the last month now, the only thing that puts me off the rainsports is that they are a dedicated wet tyre. i have heard only good things about these though so i think i will end up getting a set anyway. Cheers

They're not a dedicated wet tyre really, They're just as good in the dry.

how much would i be looking at for a full set of these tyres?
will be needing some pretty soon :dead:

Just paid £69 each delivered for these from blackcircles because camskill had no stock and so far very impressed (but I went from a mismatched firestone and hankook on the front axle)... It's wrong that I am sort of hoping for rain amongst all this sunshine
