Unlocking DVD Player

Did a search, didn't really come up with much...

Trying to unlock my DVD player to play Region 1 DVDs, anybody got any advice on where best to go to get a code? Don't want to hand over my money to some scammer who'll send me sod all in return.

Google your model number along with "hack" and you'll find one of the many sites with the info that you need. No idea on the PS3 though. I think it was possible on the old one with a disk or something first.

Ok from what I've read it seems I'll need a hacked remote to unlock it, anyone ever used one? Is there a risk I might well and truly f*ck up my DVD player?
