Unlocking iPhone (Noob Questions)

In a previous thread I mentioned that I have wrecked my phone and needed a new one, since then I've been offered an iPhone on the cheap.

I know nothing about phones, and even less about unlocking them. The phone in question is on O2, and I'm on T-Mobile.

What do I have to do to use this phone if I buy it?

Thanks,

Ste.

3GS i'm assuming? First thing is hope you get one on the 3.1.2 firmware or you'll be stumped for a bit. Then if its a windows pc you're using blacksnow to jailbreak it then install the unlock and roberts your fathers brother.

Oh, but you can't let it go flat is the only issue. Otherwise you'll need to connect it to the pc and run blackrain again to get it working, mind you you'll probably have to be home to charge it anyway so its not really an issue.

Themes, Proper Integrated Delivery Reports (i want them!), Backgrounder, Status Icons and pretty much everything else i've installed off cydia.

Meh, non of it is any real use. (Except status icons. They are quality)

Standard FTW. (Even if i am a bit narked that i payed for a few things on the cydia store)

I had my 2G jailbroken from day1 because I needed to unlock it. My 3GS is standard and it's so much easier. Not having to worry about updates and anything you add slows it down massively anyway.

The only thing I miss is themes. Hopefully that'll be standard on 4.0.
