hi fellas,
the brother is after buying a second hand htc desire.
its on 2.3 and its rooted:/

seams no real point in having it rooted so i was trying to restore it back to the latest version(2.3?)

but I'm lost what rom to use!!!

I have installed htc sync, sms backup+ and the phone numbers are on the sim card.

you can root standard software so i might be the right software

you can get rid of it by updating the software with the htc pc software

Are you mad??
It's loads better rooted. You don't run out of App memory, it's quicker and you can do more with them...

The original Desire only went as far as 2.2 in the UK iirc.

Rooting does not do that. Rooting purely gives you full admin level privileges , after it's rooted you can then install things like App2ext which then will allow you to install directly to an ext partition (so you don't run out of app memory), depending on the kernel you can then also overclock it, but just having it rooted doesn't actually do anything.

Having said all that, there's no detriment to having it rooted.

If you want to unroot it though, what you will need to find is a RUU flash file and use HTC sync to flash it over. You will lose everything on the phone though (SD Card is safe)

I'd leave it personally, some people have bricked them trying to unroot. He doesn't have to use any of the features of rooting if he doesn't want.

Thanks for the replys:)

He really is into b0lloxing with technologhy so thats why I wanted it standard.
The 2.3 update came out at the start of august.

I got it sorted anyway I just had trouble finding the right ruu file.

Im fare glad I have an iPhone though.don't like the htc at all:)
