Upgrade my Mac OS

Ok i have a macbook and theres apps which i want to run but it will not let me until i upgrade to snow leopard, it currently has Leopard on it.

Is it worth upgrading straight to Lion? or shall i just go to Snow Leopard? Also will i loose all my Applications and have to reinstall?

I may be wrong, but I think you have to upgrade to both...

Snow Leopard to give you the App Store to upgrade to Lion...

Id rather just go to Snow Leopard, not too fussed about Lion but theres probably no point paying for snow leopard then buying Lion later?

If you bung the SL cd in and follow the instructions your programs and documents will be safe.

My bro has a Snow Leopard disc, can I just use his or is it all License Protected?

If it was bought as an upgrade disc it will work. They are hardware specific if not.

No license issues.

Ah it came with his Macbook Pro last year maybe so therefore it wont work?

well just about to pop to my local poor mans apple shop called the iStore see if they have one, and my bros in London so hopefully the Apple Store has one if i fail in Colchester!

Haven't had a single issue at all on my MBP or iMac.
