And without a 9 minute video.

Download the windows 11 ISO. Unpack the ISO, go into the “Sources” folder, then edit the “appraiserres.dll” file to be empty.

Install.

Didn’t even edit a DLL for my upgrade I did this week on my unsupported CPU.

Just a registry key change to sort it.

The other option is Linux if you're not into using office.
I've got Steam on my old gaming laptop running Ubuntu and it has given it a new lease of life. Use it for work every day and it feels like going back to older XP but in a good simple way.

I'm moving away from Windows. I've been piloting using Linux on a mini-PC I bought a while back and I can't fault it. I might miss out on a few AAA games, but with the Steam Deck out there compatibility is gettting surprisingly good now.

Think I'll buy a new SSD, keep the old Windows one to one side for a bit just in case and then when I'm completely sure about Linux on my main PC I'll use the old SSD as extra p**n storage. I could use some sort of euphamism, but meh. It's for p**n.
