Upgrade to 182 shocks, springs?

  ClioSport 172 Cup
I have a 172 Cup and I want to make the handling tighter on it without spending hundreds and hundreds. Currently i have the standard shocks, and 40mm lowering progressive springs. I also have the kam racing solid strut top mounts. Would I benefit in the handling department if I were to fit the 182 kit on it, e.g. 182 shocks and springs?? In the real world i would love the gaz coilovers but they are out of my price range :(.

Cheers!!

You could fit the 182 non-cup kit, but it's the same as what you have on currently, there's no benefit.

The 182 Cup shocks/springs are different/better but to fit them you would have to change the front hubs.

Thankyou, Which is the best package of the lot? Is there a difference again between the 182 cup and 182 trophy??

Trophy is same as a 182 Cup (fitment wise) but has VERY expensive Sachs suspension.

Derbyshires local, I'd take you for a spin and show you why you don't need fancy suspension. The clios handle really well out of the box

Edit: Bit misleading, I have coilovers

I'd renew the standard stuff TBH, on b-road suspension is spot on IMO.

well i`m guessing i must need my setup tweaking as if i corner round a small island(say a 90 degree bend) any quicker than 30mph i start to get understeer, i`ve also noticed one side of the front of the car feels like its lifting slightly sometimes if i corner quickly. Maybe i`ve got shock problems...or my progressive springs are buggered, i`m not sure as i`m no suspension expert!! I would just expect it to corner alot quicker and flatter with alot less body roll being a 172 cup and lowered 40mm, it feels sloppy and un-precise. Maybe i`ve messed the cornering potential by lowering it 40mm??
