Upgraded Memory Card (?)

The company I work for, the boss has just bought a bulk selection of Micro SD cards.

We have been told these are "expandable" and the capacity varys from 4gb to 32gb.

Could someone explain this to me please? I don't understand what determines how much you get from the memory card?

Any external card that can be fitted to a device (smart phone, camera etc.) is considered "expandable" memory, but they are a fixed size. Perhaps he is referring to that?

For example my phone has 16Gb onboard storage but I can add another 16Gb, by installing a micro SD card.

you would have to look on each individual card , usual states size there, or format each one to check capacity.

what make are they, and was they sourced from a reputable dealer, as there used to be fakes etc, show up as a certain size but cant actually hold what they say and often go currupt
