Upgrading RAM

I was going to buy a 27" iMac, but a recent cambelt failure stopped that idea.

So instead was just thinking about updating my 2007 MBP a little, it only has 2GB of RAM, so would sticking 4GB in there freshen it up enough or is it not worth doing.

It's £40 from crucial, seems fairly decent to me.

Still looking at a 27" but that won't happen until next year now TBH.

Ideas from certified  people only please.

It will definitely help, especially if your doing video.

What OS are you using, maybe go for 8GB as I bet it isn't a lot more, although I haven't looked at memory prices for ages.

Do you monitor how much RAM is being used? If you edit photos in Photoshop etc then a lot of RAM will be used, so 4GB would make things run a bit smoother.

Mine will only support 4GB Mike.

Not usually when using Photoshop, Lightroom, iMovie or FCP I don't, I will do next time though.

RAM makes a huge difference to the Intel machines.

I'm now rolling with 12GB in my 27 and it's mental. Having had just 2GB in my old 2007 iMac, then upgrading it to 4GB, you'll notice a big difference mate.

100% do it. Then buy Lion.

Mine won't support any more than 4GB sadly.

Any specific places I should be looking to buy from? Crucial is £40 delivered for a new pair of 2GB.

Got my RAM this morning, just got in from CSS, and decided to swap it, followed instruction and when I boot it up it just beeps three times repeatedly.

Any ideas?
