Uprated engine mounts??

  Renault Clio Super 1600
What uprated engine mounts do people use on Mk2's?

Those ones from K-tec look ok dont they??

has anyone used anything else?

Cheers

I dont think there is anything else for that type of money.

You could go for the R-sport Cup racer mounts but they are somthing silly like £2000.

I have the Vibratechniques/k-tec's uprated mounts and i think they are great :)

These are for my S1600 Rallycross car.

The K-Tec ones seem reasonable, do they allow any movement at all?

They dont really give much movement no. When i reved my engine it would rock backward and forward but with the new mounts it doesnt move at all.

I've got them on the Trophy and there coping fine with 374bhp and 340lb/ft so they get my seal of approval :)

  RS RIP
The Vibratechnics ones will be fine for a streetcar but a S1600 rally car will snap a lot of those mounts me thinks

This happened to ours on the weekend during a race at Snetterton. Using ktec/vibratechnics mounts and powerflex bushed dog bone. No idea if that is what caused it.

i'd rather live with the engine movement then the cost an risk of something like that. Its only common sense that if you uprate the mounts it going to cause stress to other components. Stick to standard an a powerflex dogbone thanks

Probably even worse doing that. You have one mount eliminating backwards movement keeping it ridgid yet allowing movement in the g/box and top mount thus causing unbalance.

With that photo, for it to break there must have been movement surely?

it there was movement it wouldn't of broken, engine mounts act as dampers too

that upper mount is too stiff and doesn't allow the engine to move (rotate) enough hence the stress is transferred to the ali casting = snap

More to do with the L shaped bracket I've mentioned you should add in the past IMO. Without it you're transmitting a lot of twist thorugh the brackets

Do those 2k R Sport Cup racer mounts use the stock top mount part as per above picture?
cup racers are subframe mounted only if that's what you mean. I've seen an R-sport dogbone, and it just had a big bit of aluminium welded in instead of the large rubber bush,

i went for these due to the gearbox side twisting on throttle after viewing the car on the rolling road

Yeah mine was doing that too. Uprated engine mount and standard gearbox mount. Moved quite a lot as it was nackered.

I would have thought the damage to the burpspeed race car was a combonation of the stiffer mounts and smashing the car over the curbs!?

Anyone got any close up pics of the Ktec mounts fitted. Just bought a set of ebay but not sure how they go together.

Cheers for the help guys!
