My Clio has a cobra alarm fitted, locked the car last night at a mates, tried to unlock this morning, and nothing!

Press the button on the remote, nothing at all, light on the remote still flashes so its not out of battery, tried disconnecting the cars battery for like 2 mins, nothing.

Alarm just goes off when I open the doors with the key and car doesnt start because alarm isnt disarmed.

PLEASE HELP

bit of a long shot and sounds daft but are there electricity pylons nearby, reason is a lot of bike alarms dont work near them meaning you have to push the bike away from them to start it

might sound stupid but my car battery was pretty much dead, which caused my alarm to go off, the volts dropped to low and its some sort of system to let you know by the alarm going off. mine is also a cobra alarm.

check the battery isnt dead.
and also as above change the battery in the key too.

Have you tried the spare key ?

What about getting in the car and then pressing the button !? Might be closer to the receiver.

French cars huh ... :(

Sorted now yes. Phoned up a local alarm shop and blagged they had fitted the alarm some years ago....

For everyone that was asking, it was a cobra system with the seperate little fob. The way to fix this problem is stand nex to the car, hold down the two buttons on the fob together, until the flashing light goes off, let go of the both (the flashing light should now come back on as a solid light) then press the unlock/lock button four times slowly, and the remote re-syncs with the car.

Cheers for the suggestions though everyone.

Did think it could have been the car battery, but stereo was working fine (whilst alarm was going off)

also if its a cobra did you not get a little touch fob to disarm it ?

It was the touch fob that wasnt working, what i've posted is the solution incase anyones cobra pad ever dies for no reason.
