Urgent!! Is this ok

Whats that gotta do with it?

surely the top half of the suspension is gonna move about if its not in place!!

P.s i never noticed this before i had the willy engine fitted!!

Thats def not right ! Its either been lowered and need shorter ones or its died a death!.............They should fit flush as the whole point of the rubbers are to dampen movement and twist caused by the steering turning. Plus they reduce rebound................Has anyone actually passed an MOT like this? as its certainly an MOT check point,

Is yours lowered Black16v??

Im afraid i think mike is spot on as this is definately not right!! I have just been outside and they move lots when i move the steering wheel! This is quite worrying:eek:

Just looked at mine and they are exactly the same as all the pictures posted, so I reckon they must be like that

Mike wright has worked on Renos for 20+ Years!

Im sure he knows if its right or wrong thou!!

What to do?? Dillema

Alright mate. one of mine was slanted exactly the same as that and when i had the MOT it failed on it and they had to fix it but me being me didnt ask why!!!! So if it failed the mot i guess it might need fixing

its not the mot im worried about its dieing!

Like mike says surely the rubber should be sat against the bodywork for dampening the movement and stopping excessive play!!

They twist as you turn the steering wheel mate!!

Mine surely are slanted on the strut tower, and wont twist when turning wheel, do u hear squeeks or something when turning? I think that top mounts shouldnt be like that... Only spring/shock package should be turning, top mount not, so ive learned. But dont worry, those top mounts are not expensive to sort out, if u dont have anything else wrong there...

there should be a large gap like that but that slant doesnt look right.is there anything bent on the suspension that you can see or a snapped road spring perhaps? you did take the picture on level ground with the wheels straight didnt you.

Since when has renault been producing cars wiht LARGE GAPS! sorry mate Im not trying to be funny but thats not correct! Its an MOT failure and definately WRONG!......Take it to a garage and try a MOt if you dont beleive me!..................

Just wondering, have u had new shocks put in? IIRC they redesigned the top mount to fit the new shocks and to me it looks like they put the new shock and top mount in, and also left the circular damper in there...or mayB im talking boll*x :p

wrong! there should be that gap there ask any renault dealer.if the nut is tightened down to the strut top(this could only happen if you fitted the wrong shocks etc)the nut unwinds itself.the nut has to turn with the shocker if its butt up to the strut top it cant and it just unwinds itself as you work the steering.on this car the top nut/rubber is only there to stop the shocker dropping out if the wheel left the ground-large pot hole for example.there is another nut underneath that holds the shocker togethor and the shocker top is just designed to sit in the turret top.if the gap is to large then the top bearings probably collasped but there should be a gap there.

Ive been to a garage and they said its fine nothing to worry about. They checked the springs, shocks, steering, and couldnt find anything wrong with it. I mentioned the MOT faliure and they said if they cant find nothing wrong with it and it drives ok its a pass.

Any1 else took theres to a garage yet???

Im driving mine still feels ok but i woulndnt notice if its been like that for a while, Going to work laterz so if i dont post on here again then ya know the car was wrong!

there defo should be a gap there.if its to large then check the top bearings and rubber shocker top(all can be bought in a kit from renault).the slant however looks wrong and it would appear something is bent.
