Urgent! Rattling inside engine!!

Just started Erving my car test the Decat and something went wrong and it now sounds like a bag of stones inside the engine!

What can it be?!?

Aux belt has shredded, i had this on mine.

hopefully it hasnt done damage.

yep don't fire that up, will need a minimum of an auxbelt kit

ahhh right how much am i looking at for just the auxbelt just to be replaced? as it has had the cambelt done bout 10k miles ago!

belt is about £20 or so. kit is £151.19

who fitted it?

ill have a look at the reciepts in a minute as i only had the car 3 months

so how much to have it all changed and replaced by a proper garage?

not a clue on price, have a look in the traders section for one local to you.

first i would want them to look at what caused the belt to shred in the first place rather than just replace it for it to happen again.

well i just read on yours karl about having a loose alternator bolt? one of my bolts isnt completly in but it wont seem to go in, so maybe thats what caused it?

well i just looked through reciepts, the aux and cambelt kit was bought off ktec for £118 and then was fitted by ap developments exactly 2 years ago to the day lol for £287

would i need both replacing or just the aux belt ?

I would see if you could find out what exactly was bought and fitted as £118 isn't a lot. Currently the cambelt kit is £118.80 (reduced from £142.80) for an OE spec one or £156 for genuine kit and the Aux belt Kit is £138 on ktec's site.

Yeaa just noticed the aux belt kit process on ther for 138 so looks like I'll be getting that and finding a garage to fit it for me

The aux belt weren't a kit was just the belt and the cambelt kit says its a 'gates' one?

cambelt should be fine, aux however should've had a full kit

I'd cut that belt off and do a compression test on it to see it hasnt jumped into the cambelt and skipped a tooth. You say it sounds liek a bag of spanners, that cant be healthy
