URGENT retrieving deleted files.



right.. my girlfriends in a lot of trouble as she emptied the recycle bin on her dads computer and in there was some important documents to do with his work.

is there anyway of retrieving these files?? i dont think they get properly deleted from the hard drive when you 'empty the bin' do they??

Sorry for the silly question, but why did he keep important documents in the recycling bin? I would have thought there's a better folder for that... :eek:

Strange place to keep it lol, i've heard of a few programes that can do this so it can be done

thats what my girlfriends trying to tell them but apparantly she's in the wrong..

you dont store your money in the bin and hope no one empties it do you.. LOL

yeh they are programs all over the place that will undelete things for you. look on google for them. i done this for a mate fairly recently and iirc the hard drive never deletes anything, it just overwrites it when it needs to. so, so long as you haven't used the machinbe too much, theres a good chance you can recover it

That's correct, it changes the first bit of the file to hex 'E5' if I remember right and then Windows see this as space it can use. This makes it recoverable until it is overwritten with new data but as data of a file is spread over the disk you can still recover some parts of it.
