Usenet IP advice please

One for the geeks :)

Recently got my new connection setup in my apartment, and although the connection is good, I'm having some usenet issues.

1/ Fire up NewsbinPro and she's off up to around 14mb, where it sits for maybe 30 seconds before the connections die with an error of maximum number of IP addresses used.

2/As above.

I've hunted the internet but found little of help. The main problem being that the support forums for my ISP are all in German. Any help greatly apreciated.

Sounds like NewsbinPro is using to many connections for the Usenet than is allowed. IE it can be limited 10 concurrent connections, so you have to set newsbinpro to allow that.

Get a proper newsreader client, newsleecher. You can set connections and max connections.

Look at your usenet terms/package, bet your only allowed 10/15 connections, and your using say 25 at once, so they block you.

most providers have fast connections anyway so your not required to use a large amount ie 10 to get max bandwidth. either that or sum1 else is using your account as its logged >1 ip for your connection

It does matter on connections when using usenet. You can only have so many concurrent connections with newsgroups. Anymore and they just disconnect you.

Found that out after a day of asking why i couldnt connect.

I would have said exceeding max connections, with mine im allowed 20 a mixture of USA, and Europe farms i tend to use :)

I also recoment newsleecheer :) but im only on 8mb!

Only other thing is your not account sharing are you, we sometimes get this when we log into the same acount from more than 2 ip addresses..

Thanks dudes. All sorted now. It must be something with my ISP out here, as I've never had this at home or elsewhere. Anyway, the solution was to switch back to UNS. I had been using Giganews for a while but fucked them off and all is now well :D

Incidentally, althought UNS retention isn't the best, and it's only 10 connections, it's bloddy good value at $39.95 per quarter.
