Using iphone as a mass storage device

Can you make a folder when attached to itunes and just use that folder as storage?

How would you get it onto the next machine if it's transferring tho.

Do you need itunes to connect you phone to laptop/pc?

I dont believe you can on iPhone / iPod touch.

You can on the classic iPods for sure, but not the touch-screen jobbies (although I could easily be wrong here).

All considered though, you could get a 1gb usb pen the size of a credit card and keep it in a wallet. it'll still always be with you and you wont need drivers or cables to make it work on whatever PC you connect to.

I thought it had changed as its flash drive and not hard drive or something unlike old ipods. Maybe well off but i'm sure i read or heard that.

Another question, can I put songs ect... on my iPhone without itunes?
