v6 airbox too loud for track use?

Hi all,

fitted my v6 airbox today and its a fair bit louder than the standard one.

i'm doing a trackday at bedford on saturday and have been alerted that it may be too loud for the induction sound testers.

has anyone been round there with the same setup (the quietest of the ktec stealths and a v6 box) and did you have any issues? just wanna be sure

You shouldn't have any issues at all mate

Do'nt think so. We have "Zandvoort" circuit here at the beach in Holland, with strict decibel restrictions (for example the silencer box in exhaust is def. needed) . A man i know here who does racing with two Cup cars explained he uses "open" intakes on most, but this particular track he uses the V6 box.

So my guess is you'll be allright because Zandvoort is REALLY strict

IIRC it's no louder then a ITG maxogen, you'll be fine.

ummm a fair bit. only done a quick test run so no idea yet. seems a tiny bit punchier in the midrange

yeah 98 + before ; The old Renault 25 V6 is a definate winner to salvage one off of

Im now running mine with one of JMS's track filters, and it is a noticeable amount louder that OEM and it picks up better throughout the rev range. Its a 'must mod' imo

Most test for exhaust decibels when stationary rather than driveby, not sure on Bedford though.

Yeah, they have meters around the track, uber strict with noise. The v6 box shouldn't trip them though.

Yeah i run it day-to-day, im just waiting to get the instructions from Tom as they didnt send properly when i bought it, but surely it will just require cleaning more often, say every few 1000 miles

Aye, although mine has 750mm of CAF to mute the induction noise. I've never had a problem with it, and at Bedford, even without the CAF you shouldn't get picked up on a driveby.
