V6 Problem

  Clio V6 255 (Acid Yellow)
My V6 takes ages to get warm.

I can actually drive the car 100 or so miles down the motorway without the engine ever reaching normal temperature. I know that the gauge is right because the air coming out of the heater is also cold / luke warm.

When the car is stationary and isn’t being cooled by moving air then it does get warm quite quickly. When I took the car to Renault and asked them to check the car they attached it to their machines, left it stationary and sure enough it came up to temperature within specified parameters.

So is there a problem with my car or is this normal?

Surely it is damaging to drive the car when cold for extended periods?

A friend suggested that the thermostat may be stuck open … or something like that, thereby running the cooling system before the car is up to operating temperature?
