V6 Spacers?

  BMW M4; S1000 RR
Hi i know this question can annoy some people but it is a decision i have chose to make, ive decided to install a V6 body kit onto my 172... but im finding it difficult to decide what spacers i should get so the wheels sit in the Widearch well. also whould 16" leave to much space around the inner arch?

i have a 2000 ph1 clio RS

++ last thing, is there a demand for V6 rear bumpers? want to try and make a new look

thanks

i know its every mans nightmare but im not a little chav, roaming the streets with nowhere to go is not what i do! but i would like to make a project out of this as i enjoy modifying cars. suggestion are welcome but a answer would help a lot more...

thanks

  It's A Reno
The reason I put that isn't to be cruel, it's that I've seen quite a few v6 reps and they never look right. You'll spend a lot of money getting a car that doesn't look like a real V.
You could probably spend a few K more and get a rough cat d real V as a project car instead.

I hate to think what the nasty boys will say later. :(

Put down the crack pipe and step back!

You have a ph1 172, you can probably sell that for what....2k, 2k+?

A full kit, the decent kit will cost you...Infact there isn't a good replica kit, the vents all look shocking. the Parts that don't come with the replica kit cost a fortune. Vee prices for parts have gone up, year on year. Lookin at hundreds of pounts for fog light surrounds and grills etc.

A mk1 Clio vee will cost you approx 7-10k...

What would you rather a 172 with kit + all that declared to insurance or a genuine clio v6...

.......Answers on a postcard please.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
Yep, the only way to get a decent kit is to go to Renualt. At £1000 a panel, near as makes no difference. £1000 for each front arch. £1000 for each rear arch. £1000 for each bumper. I think the skirts may be cheaper at around £1000 the pair.

Just why would you? It doesn't make any sense to!

jewish is always right! (In his mind at least) I think back to putting RS badges on a 172, that was bad enough...But putting a replica kit on an already good car is just a sin!

Please don't make a V6 rep !!

Buy one if you really want one. If you do make a rep genuine parts are the only way to go.

as said the replica's never look right, the back end is never low enough to suit and unless you get actual v6 wheels you will need probably 50-60mm spacers on the front and even bigger on the rear! plus when it comes to selling the car again there impossible to shift.

You're choice at the end of the day but if you want a project then buy a ropey ph1 vee and work on that, you'll have the real thing and wont have a problem re-selling it

do you really want to be seen in a car that looks like this? :

If so, just buy a rep thats already done instead of ruining a great car.

One like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/clio-v6-repli...ewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item335829d342

It will look TURD unless you use the genuine renault panels. The genuine kit WILL cost you more than buying a v6 and owning both cars. You can buy a 172 for the price of a v6 rear bumper.

DONT DO IT!!! PEOPLE WILL LAUGH AT YOU.

The wheelbase is longer on the V6... so unless you plan on a cut and shut chassis it'll look wrong however much you spend on the plastic panels from Renault.

Ph2 bumpers are about that price but try doubling all those parts for a Ph1 from Renault. I had the unfortunat task of replacing both front and rear bumper last year. Reno quoted me £1760+vat for the front bumper, around £2000 for the rear and £360+vat for EACH fog lamp surround. I ended up getting parts from SG Motorsport for alot less than that and got together with Streamline Carbon to make a set of fog surrounds, which they now sell. I'm pretty sure the front wings are nearer 2 grand too. Mainly because these parts were originaly produced by TWR instead of reno.

Theres only one single way you will get a rep to look right. Cut the back of the car out and spaceframe it so the car sits correctly and then use genuine, non rep parts. They sit much lower than normal fwd clio's so dont think lowering it on a set of 16 inch alloys will look any good. If you want to fit 16" wheels because you cant afford bigger ones to fill the arches, why the hell are you undertaking the task of making a rep???? It'll cost you a fortune fella.

In all fairness mate, with the right tastefull mods, you don't need a v6 body to make your car look damn fine. Guillume (Shaun) followed me in his 172 a few months back at it looked fantastic next to my vee. So good infact that i'm thinking of getting one as a second car. Just my opinion mate.

LOL

I think I should point out here that this was posted by a friend of mine, a friend whom I have told time and time again V6 reps look horrible.

Why do you keep coming back to the idea Matt? :( Just get an M3 !!

/Jeff out (who has just started breaking his MX5 to fund an M3 :))
