V6 Throttle body on a 172?

  Audi TT 225
Will it fit?

Obviously theres going to be an internal size difference between the TB and manifold but that could be sorted out.... Im just wondering if it would go on?

I did a similar mod on my last car, big TB on a re-worked manifold. Most of the Ford TB's were the same size (mondao, focus, puma, fiesta) just the internal size and the butterfly size were different so Im wondering if this will mate up or if anyone could suggest something that might fit?

I don't know what the V6 throttle body looks like but I can't imagine it would be compatible.
If you are looking at intake gains, contact BenR about his intake mod. Some good gains have been seen there.

hmmm. there are people on here that know more 'bout this engine than me, but i can't really see a major problem with the standard body, unless you wanna go sick for power, then you might as well purchase some jenvy bodies or similar.
de cat, induction, get the inlet manifold modded then map it, and you'll be fairly impressed

Nah Im doing the manifold work myself which is no probs.

Im looking for a bigger TB ;)

If one exists!
Anyone with a V6 wanna get out the measuring tape lol?

std body is fine for well over 200bhp.

Talking about the manifold mods, actually, i'll just post up a new thread....some great results.

When I did it to my last car it seriously improved acceleration and gave a little on the top end.
I know theres nothing wrong with the 172 TB but bigger means I can get more air in, thus more fuel and va va voom you know the rest :D

Oh and chucking a new TB on doesn't cost anywhere near the same as a propper TB kit ;)

Can you post a link on here Ben. This is definately something I want in the future on my quest for 200.

yea, but in this instance, the TB itself isnt a restriction.

Just from experience, its alot of effort for no gain. The manifold runners themselves are the restriction.

True but like you say theres a lot of room for improvement!

And lobbing a new TB on and opening up the intake isn't much of a hardship

If you have a radically improved inlet, port work done on the head, bigger injectors, maybe bigger valves and uprated internals then it would be a bit naughty no?

if your going that far, i wouldnt stick with the std type inlet ideally, i fabricate new plenhams for work levels like that as the std design is, well, crap.

yup, your quite right.

I've spent over a year developing the best shape, matching steps, radiuses and runner cross secitonal area, and you'd be surprised of the difference between the early ones and the current ones. Optimal flow quantity and quality is the result of constant development.

Newer 182 manifolds are better chosen from the factory and better cast, older ones can have upto 3mm overhang from the head cross secitonal diameter.
