V6 v VXR 220

  Yaris Hybrid

If they did a proper hard top version like the Exige I would!!!

Thats one area where I do prefer the V6.

The Exige is a rip off and not as reliable as the VX. I will never as long as I live pay a premium for a badge.

ok, why not buy an Exige, lets face it they are both the same car and the lotus looks better anyway.

Anyway back to the artical, I am sure that if the critera was just for track cars then the VXR200 would have won easy (lets face it, its a very fast car), however the critera was more than just that and the V6 255 won.... NICE

Simon.

I must admit that I will up the power of the V6 at some point to get to at least 330bhp (235bhp per ton, same as the VXR220), so maybe I do feel slightly inferior, but only power wise.....;)

Compare the VXR to the Motorsport Exige or an R300 + , but the Clio V6 is a totally diferent ball game.

They should have picked the 111r if they wanted something from the extended Lotus stable.

I do buy in to the logic of the author though. Some cars are so good that they become boring to drive. You can never access the things that make them great on the public roads. The rewards from the V6 are "more accessible" in most situations.

Thats why some very inexpensive cars rank so highly in the "fun stakes". You can have a great time driving at 50 or 60 Mph - because theres so much else going on. The VXR would be pretty anodyne as it would do everything from a driving perspective better than the V6. Im not sl*gging the V6, but its just a totally inapprptriate comparisson - like an elise against an SR4.

If I was looking for just 1 cr, Id go for the V6, if I was buying a second / third car I would go for the VXR without question, as I can live without the compromises of the V6.

All IMHO of course.
