vacuum pipe

  Fabia vRS

I want to fit a vacuum gauge for fun in my 1.4 16v, engine code K4J.

On the flywheel end of the plastic plenum/intake manifold there is a 4mm dia 20mm long pipe. At the moment there is a rubber cap over the end, but when removed I cant feel a vacuum. Anyone know its purpose, or if I can put a hole through here to get a vacuum feed?

Alternatively, which other vacuum pipe is best to use, Ive been looking through Haynes to see if it gives any indication of a vacuum source, so far its mentioned map sensor pipe and fuel pressure regulator pipe. However the illustrations dont cover my engine, so Im not really much furhter forward.

anyone point me in the right direction please?

prob best just to tee off from the map sensor, or the fuel pressure regulator pipe.

You should be able to see a pipe coming from the inlet manifold that goes to the map sensor, or to a little thing on the fuel rail

cheers m8, finding those is difficult on mine, cos of their possible location, may have to resort to using a mirror and/or taking off the plastic undertray.
