Valver idling problem *vid*

Car  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT

Been having problems with a dodgy idle for months now. It also cuts out when coming to junctions occasionally untill it is fully warmed.

Anyway iv got a couple of other things to try but filmed it today, as i had to start the car up anyway, seen as its sat on teh drive not doing much.

http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~cadams/videos/myvids/engine/engine1.MPGPart 1 - 6.1mb

http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~cadams/videos/myvids/engine/engine2.MPGPart 2 - 4.9mb

Anything obvious that could be causing this? Bearing in mind iv changed:

ISVC
Throttle body
potentiometer
speedo cable/road speed sensor
lambda

change of ECU on the way, as im running a 19 16v one and i know someone on here was having problems and the change of ECU solved it! also coolant tempt sensor and probably map sensor as well!

Your cams coupled with your CTS and varying MAP values will be playing havoc with the ECUs enrichment startup. BUt it does sound like the 10 sec no lambda search function.

Mine hunts heavily when cold, but it doesnt vary the rpm quite like yours.

If you havent tried the CTS yet, i would.

oh, and fuel pressure will have no bearing on a/f ratio when at idle/closed loop. within reason.

just changed my CTS again seems to have done the trick for now. its still a bit lumpy when its cold but the idle is definitely sorted. sits at a steady 900 now without shooting all over the place.

cos my original one had a HP chip in which i sold, leaving it chipless and i had a spare 19 16v ECU which worked ok in teh car. So i left it at that!

no, they are suppose to be the same but internally they ar slightly different. I know someon on here had problems swapped it for original ecu and it worked fine.

when i went on diagnostics machine it was coming up with ecu error too like.

got this problem on my vts, really common problem on them, loads have it on the saxo group. they reckon its the lambda sensor, map sensor or some other sensor or other. i had the fuel pressure adjusted on mine, made it better not brill, doesnt stall anymore just idles a bit crap at the lights.

FOOK ME look at the oil pressure !!

Healthy as mate ;) oil pressure of doom, but its all good! it stays like that till its fairly warm as well!

Had this problem for ages and the car constantly cut out at junctions so i disconnected the cold start valve sensor as it was overfuelling and now its fine.

Hi mate i had this problem the other week it went to a renault garage and they fitted me anew Regulator but it still does it now and then

I had the same problem with mine. For various reasons i removed my PBV (which was never set correctly) and it has improved it - still idles low after a blast but no longer cuts out. Probably unlikely to actually have been the PBV but it could be agrivating the situation if its not set 100%.....

Have you checked the wiring loom - could be a loose connector maybe?

well iv ordered a new coolant temp sensor and timing sensor so im gonna try those, also got a 94L 16v ECU coming instead of the unknown 19 16v one iv got at the min. After that theres not a lot left to try, but im confident that lot will sort it!

Cheers
