valver slips out of 5th gear

my valver has started to slip out of 5th at around 4500rpm

did it once on the way back from blackpool a about a month ago

then when on way back from stoke i stopped and there was a lot of smoke coming out from what seemed to be the cat/manifold

today on way back from essex it slipped out say every ten minutes or so when at 4200 t0 4700 in 5th

at under 4000 it doesnt slip out at all

any ideas please?

Sometimes if the engine mount is worn,this can cause the box to pop out of gear. Wot are your mounts like?

Wen my actual Gbox was on the way out,it used to fly out of 2nd.

mounts are ok, dogbone replaced 8 months ago with genuine renault item.

maybe have a look at the main mounts i suppose its an idea, going to a gearbox specialist today see what they say, well a worrying problem as not a cheap one a?

Check that theres not a big hole in the gearbox where a selector fork has come adrift and gone round the diff.

Done this 3 times, and the oil was pouring out and going onto the exhaust causing a james bond style smoke screen behind the car. If its leaking youll smell it aswell.
