Valver vs 106 Gti

Has any one owned both of these cars? Been thinking about selling my Valver and 106 Gti is one of the only alternatives performance, and insurance wise. Does it feel slower? I have heard it is quite easy to get the power up with a forced IK. How do the running costs compare- thinking the 106 isnt quite as juicy and cheaper to have work done on?
