varying BHP

Hi

Ive seen a few people talkig about how the 16v (clio/19) engine varies a lot in standard trim. What auses the variations an is there any way you can tell if your getting a good one when buying? Also when tuning does it just mean the lower bhp ones as standard respond better to tuning ordoes that vary too?

Cheers

The slow ones feel slow and the fast ones feel quick. Cant really trust a rolling road. The best way is to get used to your own valver then ride around in other peoples. Its easy enough to tell once youre used to your own.

As far as tuning goes, in the world of the F7P engine, whatever you do will have limited results! Needs a lot of dedication to get a lot of power out of the 1.8 16v lump.

all down to manufacturing tolerances, oil types people use, running in methods (i.e. thrashing works well).......cylinder compression, coke buildup, state of compononents, MON, etc etc etc....to many variable to have all cars out the factory make the same power.
