Very low MPG

Just got my 1.4 16v and I've noticed it absolutely drinking petrol. It's idling really low and around town driving extremely careful I'm getting about 24mpg if I'm lucky (Went down to 20 earlier) Thinking about getting it tuned? Any ideas?

reason I ask is I'm getting 35 in the track car, and I cut the whole thing off on that!lol!

I meant pre cat lambda. Post cat does f**k all apart from throw a warning light up.

be grateful you haven't got 4 lambdas and 2 EGT sensors to worry about!
