Video Camera adapter

I've got a track day coming up in a month, and wanted to film some on-board footage. I have a Panasonic video camera, it's not HD but it's something like 720p so not too bad. I have heard that some people run their video cameras in their glove boxes, and run an attachment that has a camera and mic on it on the dash.

Could someone point me in the right direction of where I could get this adapter? I don't even know what it's actually called tbh!

I started a thread asking a similar question, people recommended the Hague headrest adaptor that fastens between your seats. No good for me though as I don't have headrests!

That seems a good option, although I'm not sure about spending close to £50 on one!
