Viper IK For 16v Yet

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

PiperX Viper induction kit made to fit a 16v yet?

With a good cold air intake pipe that must beat original air box for performance if it exists.

So do they make them for the F7 engine yet or what?

They look cool but should improve acceration if the kit can suck in a fair amount of cold air.

I would ask Ktec as they seem to do them for most Clios but there still may not be one for the 16v/Willy.

If not get a BMC CDA with fabricated throttle body adaptor OR the new IMG Maxogen thing if they make one.

I e-mailed K-TEC and they said one was coming out the end of April i think it gonna be about £250 a lot of money but in the engine bay its the only way to go, im gonna put the normal filter on hold and wait for the viper.

Best hope they get loads in cos im sure there will be loads of people wanting em best try and get a bulk buy discount i rekon!!!

When i tested the viper on the 172 for the RS-R conversion it gave a peak gain of 6bhp and made the claimed 10BHP mid range for about 700rpm.......

Best single bolt on you can get in my opinion. the benefit is just a reduction in inlet temps by about 50%, which is nice.

Not out yet & 250 sounds pricey!

Does that come with a bumper cold air feed then, cause the above radiator ones which come with most kits arent as good as relocating to bumper r they?

What colours will it come in? Hopefully blue & carbon to match my HT leads.

its red only...

I didnt use the std black foi crappy ducting, i got some sire supported 100mm ID ducting for motorsport use, its better....that foil stuff colappses all over teh shop.....

on teh end of the viper is a 100mm OD flance to which you secure the ducting to with a jublee etc.

THen you place the end with the ram pipe where you want it to go.

& itll suck through it no matter how long?

Does the bore size not matter? For instance; can a vacuum be created using smaller pipeing, would this help the IK draw more air up?

Expert needed!

no, you generally dont want too small a bore as you wont gain anything from ram air pressurused systems or anything like that, all you should be aiming to do is get as much COLDER air in as possible.

My ductiong was about 1.5m long, and it was fine.

I have just spoken to K-Tec who are listing this on their website for the 1.8 16v. It is not listed in the text, but there is an option to buy on-line.

They have told me that this should be available soon and have said that if I call back in a month, they can give me more of an idea.

We are just waiting on our alloy adapter plates to be finished then the Viper kit will be finished on our 16v. We should have some details and pictures in a few weeks.

So any reviews? Or still not out yet? Any1 rang K-Tec?

Im waiting to hear a 16v owners opinion b4 i fork out £250, plus if it aint that good then ill probably keep my PiperX IK for the sound, sucking, sssshhhhh and roaring!

If any1 orders 1, it may be a good idea to do some runs with an ap-22 b4 and after. Maybe K-Tec can perform some performance tests. So any1?

  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT

get a bmc cda, its just about the same thing and fits the 16v. im well impressed with mine and i aint even got a cold air feed goin into it yet, its pointing to the engine till i get mi piping.

Yeah but the CDA is not available unless you get an adaptor fabricated for the throttle body.

Adams_16v

Did you have to get an adaptor fabricated for the throttle body or did you buy the kit complete with the adaptor ? Seen the kit for sale in a Demon Tweeks catalog but wasnt sure if it comes with the adaptor.

Cheers
