I recently spoke with BB Performance Tuning and they said that in extensive tests they carried out, Fitting an open IK did not cause any probs with fuelling or with heat soak, Dont shoot the messenger. I think they use Green IKs so I assume they used one for the tests but dunno for sure.
I here what u r saying but BBPT do say they have carried out extensive tests on this, Think they even tried car without an air filter at all and still no fuelling probs. Obviously due to no filtering it wouldnt be a good idea to do this but I suppose it went to trying to prove a point.
It does make cars run lean, and is the reason for dyno operators refusing some cars on the wheels due to the dangerous engine conditions...
And running without an airbox makes plenty a difference, when I run my energy without the airbox and plenum I can tell by the smell and fuel consumption...
cheers guys, ill go with the majority on this and play safe, am gonna get a green panel filter for £35 for now, will think about getting a closed ik in the future if i decide to change the ECU as well, dont wanna tempt fate with running lean whilst giving it some
