Viper Induction - petrol consumption

Ive just installed a viper induction kit on my mk2 172, and found that it drink my petrol a hell lot more, about 20mpg from 32mpg? Any one else got aviper experiencing the same kind of drop????

It will drop normally.

More Air = More Fuel = More Power.

the ecu will compensate to a certain extent otherwise it would run VERY lean if it maintained the same fuel amount per higher air content.

you would have a slight decrease in fuel consumption but the amount you say is a bit excessive. You sure you just havent been thrashing it more now the vipers fitted;)

there is a diff but mine only drops from 30 to between 28-29 unless i rag the tits off it.

but even with out the viper it drops then.

Mine dropped slightly when I had mine fitted and a chip and pbv on as well. Only really noticeable when being right foot heavy cos its fuelling more.

20mpg is a joke though....summits wrong!

Ur right about me ragging the tits of it, but il try re-setting it and not hitting the optimum gear light each gear. this time. lol

Just another thing, when i fiited the viper, the orignal air filter had 2 air intakes, 1 on the bottom of the filter and 1 on the side which feed down the right side of the bumper. I have still left this air intake on but it not connected to the viper in any way, just sitting next to the battery. Will this be cause of my fuel consuption??
