Viper kit on a 182

  Black Gold 182
Hi Guys,

Anyone got a viper kit fitted? Having a bit of trouble thats all....

What do you do with the existing air feed pipe (the fluffy black one)?

At present I have just got the new pipe fed over the existing one. Is this correct??? If not, where is the best place to put the intake end of the new pipe?

Also, I haven't really noticed any sound increase from the engine.

Thanks in advance...

its a closed unit = no sound, if u want sound, then remove the feed,
if ur keeping the feed, then remove the stock "furry" feeds, therea re held on by a bolt where the horn is you can getr at this through the wheel arch or under the car, then run a feed down the wheel arch where there is dense air

Cheers guys,

Fitting an exhaust in the morning so whilst I'm under the car I will have a look at removing the stock feed.

Thought his name was Nick? The bend is 50£ but worth it imo.

think your right about him being called nick. you can get a cheaper bend (approx £20) without the breather inlet, all you need then is a breather filter, cant remember where from

to the lower front grille or fog light

you grab and twist the OE feed to remove it

do a search, i've posted loads on how to do it, can't be bothered typing it again!!

i dont wanna take the bumper off really. just wanna connect the ducting to the end of the viper and put it where the standard one is.

waste of time, dude its a 30min job to remove the bumper, don't be scared, JUST DO IT!

If you're going to do something, do it right, or don't bother

IIRC you can remove the original air feeds and the valve which is bolted onto the chassis below the headlamp by taking the wheel arch liner out.

Also, you have to disconnect the vacumn pipe from the inlet and block it off.

where is the valve? what does it do? im not scared to take the bumper off, i just dont have much time anymore. how many pipes is there?

Hope to buy a viper myself but want the noise as well. So if the feed that comes with the viper isn't installed does that still mean u will get a power increase but just not as much as their wont be a much dense air? (Me not very machanically minded u see). Cheers

If you follow the OE intake pipe down past all the headlight stuff you'll find the valve...it's opened/closed by the vacumn tube which goes into the inlet next to the throttle body.

I believe this valve opens/closes depending on engine speed to reduce noise and improve torque......if you going to fit a viper though removing it and all associated bollox will make a lot more room to get your feed down near the foglight.

if it improves torque then shouldnt i leave it connected up? and vavle working?

might just leave it all on there..
