Virgin Media Boosts Again

I wish I could get more than 5mb, nevermind 100mb.

Stupid s**tty exchange

ShitScali seems to be a constant 20mb here, unless it's a weekend and the neighbourhood kids have Party Rockers on repeat and miniclip going or whatever they play these days.

thing is when it used to be telewest, they used to send me letters to reduce the price.

think this is third time virgin have put it up roughly 3 month into a 12 month contract, it shouldnt be allowed

VM's prices have crept up over the past few years , but i'm not complaining . It's always been a faultless service for me . I don't think the rise to 152mb is gonna be that noticeable tbh , but if they insist , who am i to moan lol .

Personally, I'm quite happy with my 70mb down and 18mb up through BT infinity.

Not sure why you'd need a higher download speed, not once have I had buffering or any download take longer than expected. And that's including wireless and not just hard wired.

Think providers should focus more on boosting upload speeds, something Sky should look into...

I think providers should focus more on working with councils and local authorities to get decent broadband rolled out everywhere! LOL! Still stuck on less than 1.5Mb and 0.25Mb upstream. No fibre in the area. :(

  Yaris Hybrid
Not getting too excited. I can get 127 on speedtest but I still get buffering on Youtube at any thing other than 360p.

I'd rather have 20mb instead of 120mb but with no traffic management or throttling at peak times.

This was my exact problem on VM.. used to have 60mb but stability was awful!!
I'm now on BT infinity where I only get 36mb dl but the connection is so much better and everything loads quicker!!

fibre, I think you'd get a better internet speed with some wet string:clown:

Andy, it's all in the pipeline however it really doesn't happen overnight. BT currently are already providing the fastest rollout of fibre broadband than any other country in the world. Rural areas will always be the toughest, that's the issue with wanting to live in a rural/quieter place in the sticks... I currently do a lot of surveying for putting fibre broadband in the rural areas as well as my main role fibre jointing/cabling.

I might just try that...

Yeah, I know it's being worked on Nick and appreciate it will take time. :) My gripe is that I'm in a modern housing area yet my side of the estate is stuck on copper wire (connected to an exchange a few km's away) whilst the other end enjoys high-speed broadband via fibre. :( I also like to moan a lot, which doesn't help! :p I know you guys are doing a good job out there so ignore me. I'm just peeved I can't enjoy my Xbox One online subscription. Cheers buddy!

that's something i suppose just have to wait until august now.

Possibly not, I was told between August and the end of the year, then out of the blue got an e-mail yesterday saying my 'account' had been upgraded, checked my speed and sure enough its gone up.

Are these speed tests people are posting in mega bytes and not mega bits? If so f*ck me my street gets 400 kb/s download haha!

  A blue one.
My normal download rate is anything around 15 megabytes a second, sometimes up to 16/17.

I got the 300Mbit email a month or so back!

Really? The one I had says 200mb. I know there were rumours of 300mb on the internet but VM have never said that have they?

Still crap upload though. I'd happily drop to 100mb for download and have 20+ upload.
