Vista Ultimate

I have got a copy of vista ultimate (legal one before anyone asks). I am currently using vista home premium, is it straight forward to put ultimate on without losing everything?

The media, I.E the dvd the OS comes on, is identical for Basic, Home, Premium and Ultimate and it's the key that determines what version is installed.

If you intend on using the same key you already have then you're just going to end up installing the same version you have now regardless of what Vista DVD you use.

dont think so pal, id back everything up just in case... dont quote me though could be wrong but whenever i changed my XP OS i had to back everything up

"nothing" I guess depends on what you're using it for.
There are lots of benefits to running Ultimate, but again, it depends what you want.

What does that allow you to do andy?

It is one of a couple if extra MS games that come with Ultimate, not really worth the difference.

For me, Ultimate was worth getting as it was only €10 more than Premium and I like to use the IIS, RDP, join a domain etc.

Yea, has domain stuff etc removed in Home.

There's quite a few differences.. just that most home users don't use any of them.. which is why they made so many versions - so people pay for what they use.

So should I install it or not? I'm no computer expert, but if it has extras that I might use then I suppose it's a good idea. And what are IIS, RDP?
